Writing plays, whether you like it or not.

When frustrated system administrator Marsha becomes fixated on her gorgeous new colleague Johnny, her actions graduate from harmless delusion into dangerous sexual harassment.

2 hour audio drama / 15 episodes + television pilot.

I wrote LoveSick in late 2020. Frustrated by a lack of opportunities to present live work, I wanted to create something I could perform and produce from my spare bedroom.

To my delight and surprise, this little DIY project was a finalist for the 2021 Imison Award, so I got to go off to the BBC Audio Drama Awards (virtually).

The judges said: “this work displayed a bold use of the monologue to hold attention and create surprise. It was consistently funny, well and tightly written, carefully structured and created intrigue by straddling the boundary between audio drama and short story.”

LoveSick was first developed in a writing workshop with Rosemary Jenkinson, and developed further in a workshop with Jonathan Josephson. It was produced by my friend and BIFA-award nominee Julius Beltrame, who gave fantastic technical and story advice (at a distance. All errors remain my own). I love this horrible heroine, so I am currently producing LoveSick as an 18 episode webseries. You can support that production on my Ko-Fi page.
