Writing plays, whether you like it or not.

You don’t watch it, do you? And you’d never make it, would you? A and B make ‘adult content’ together. The money is quite good. Their relationship is not. B’s need to degrade and objectify A is intensifying, and she wonders if she can abandon her relationship – and her income – to escape. Lonely schoolboy C finds excitement and validation in exploring his queer identity in online cam rooms. When B decides to recruit him into his fledgling pornographic empire, their collective plans fall into the gulf between fantasy and reality.

P0RN! was performed for two nights in Smock Alley’s Scene + Heard festival 2022. I was very lucky to have an extremely talented and dedicated team:

  • Cara Jade Chapman as A
  • Daniel Mahony as B
  • Benjamin Reilly as C
  • Director: Aneta Dina Keder

The audience feedback was fantastic. Reviewers said:

“This was a great opportunity to hear the text of a play that unravels our relationship with porn, from soft to hardcore, from spectator to participant, entrapped or age exploited. Her treatment and the reading of the underage role was particularly effective. Skolimowski doesn’t pull her punches. She shines a light on behaviour and issues that exist…the reason they aren’t acknowledged more in society as real debate is often drowned out by ‘moral outrage’.”

I’m currently expanding this to full length through a residency at Axis Ballymun: you can support a full production on my Ko-Fi page.

The promo video was actually decent this time, and there’s a whole load of material from the production you can access if you register free:
